Gujarat's Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel, who was detained by the police when he was heading to Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh to meet family members of those killed in the police firing during a farmers' agitation, has been released.
Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia being arrested while trying to make his way to Mandsaur to meet the deceased farmers' kins, at Dodhar toll plaza on Tuesday.
A day before holding a Satyagraha in Bhopal in support of farmers, Scindia led a rally from Indore towards Mandsaur and held public meetings on the way.

Patel was arrested to prevent "commission of cognisable offences", City Superintendent of Police Abhishek Diwan said.
Lashing out on authorities after his arrest, Hardik Patel said, "I am not a terrorist". Mandsaur is still under Section 144 where assembly is prohibited.
He said that farmers' deaths were a blot on the government and that the BJP had no right to stay in power. Both the Congress leaders were taken in a Vajra vehicle to Jaora town, where they were formally arrested by the police.

Political leaders and social activists have continued to make futile attempts to visit Mandsaur despite peace having returned there.

A 26-year-old farmer had died in Badavan village of Mandsaur district.
