Game of Thrones Season 7: Did the real name Jon Snow leak?

Posted June 19, 2017

But a Reddit post, which claims to have details from an upcoming issue of Empire, claims his name if in fact Jaehaerys Targaryen.

What's in a name?

While it seems that Jon Snow's birth name might be Jaehaerys Targaryen, no one at HBO has confirmed it. Jaehaerys I, the longest reigning Targaryen monarch in Westerosi history, was a dragonrider and he was also known as "Jaehearys the Wise".

Amateur Game of Thrones investigators have some compelling theories behind why this must be Jon Snow's name.

Could it be true?

Fans already know that Jon Snow isn't a Stark (as was originally thought), but a Targaryen.

Although the name tidbit is juicy, GOT fans are still craving their return to the world of Westeros.

Hold onto your horses...or dragons, depending on who you side with, as there's a potentially explosive Game of Thrones season 7 rumor floating around!

On the show, a dying Lyanna whispers something into Ned's ear after giving birth to Jon, and though HBO didn't provide subtitles for that comment, some lip readers have taken to the internet and claimed she said the word "Jaehaerys".

We must wait to find out if Jon's name really is Jaehaerys Targaryen, but for now it seems like a ideal fit for the new King of the North. Game of Thrones Season 7 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet, and we can not wait to see how everything plays out.

Game of Thrones Season 6 finale contained a reveal fans of A Song of Ice and Fire had been waiting two decades for: Jon Snow is not the bastard son of Ned Stark, but the child of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.

Jon Snow's real name may well have just come to light.

This information comes from Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, as he was talking about the moment his character "saw" the truth about Jon's lineage with his time-travelling "green sight".

This makes him the nephew of both Ned Stark and Daenerys Targaryen. "'He knows all about the White Walkers too'". He's revered for his wisdom, compassion, and intelligence, including healing a violent divide between the monarchy and the Faith Militant- a group that, you might recall, resurged recently.
