Sports Illustrated trolls Trump over fake Time magazine cover

Posted June 28, 2017

"I can confirm that this is not a real TIME cover", spokeswoman Kerri Chyka told WaPo.

President Donald Trump loves to blame a host of the nation's issues on the "fake media", but amusing he never mentioned the fake Time magazine covers decorating his golf clubs.

Two of the secondary headlines were featured on an actual cover, the March 2nd, 2009 issue that featured Kate Winslet's image. For one, the red border on the Trump cover was thinner than a normal TIME cover, and it lacks the thin white line that the magazine usually features.

During a speech at the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters, he said, 'I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time Magazine, ' despite the fact that Richard Nixon has appeared on the cover almost four times as often with a total of 55 appearances.

After all, with a headline as congratulatory as, "DONALD TRUMP: "The Apprentice" is a television smash!" anyone would proudly hang that where customers and clients alike could see the kudos given by such a venerated news source.

However, Fahrenthold said he was not able to determine who created the fake cover, or why it was created in the first place. He threw a hissy fit when media photos captured the undisputable truth that his inauguration crowd was pathetically small and launched into yet another tirade about "fake news", yet apparently was fine with a fake magazine cover in his establishments.

In Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, the framed cover hangs opposite a framed cover of Newsweek with the president's mug on it and over what appears to be a framed page from Variety. But would he really adorn the walls of several of his properties with a Time magazine cover feature about himself that is not real? Finally, Time never uses exclamation points on their covers, while the fake one has two. We couldn't comment on the decor at Trump Golf clubs one way or another'. "I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time Magazine", he said during a January speech at Central Intelligence Agency headquarters. Former President Richard Nixon, for example, has appeared on Time's cover 55 times.

In real news, Trump could soon be on friendlier terms with Time.

But that count was wrong.

The Magazine also confirmed they had asked the Trump organisation to remove the cover from display.

David Fahrenthold, a reporter for WaPo and CNN contributor, tweeted an update.
