NIA raids 10 locations in J&K, NCR

In its FIR, the NIA mentioned that Hafiz Saeed and separatist leaders, including members of the Hurriyat Conference, have been acting in connivance with active militants of proscribed terrorist organisations Let, HM, Dukhtaran-e-Millat and other terrorist organisations for raising, receiving and collecting funds domestically and overseas through various illegal channels for funding terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. It said that raids were conducted at 9 locations in Kashmir and one each in Jammu and Gurugram.

Qayoom on Wednesday appeared before the NIA in New Delhi. "The NIA raided early today and searched the house till about 3pm", sources said.

The NIA on Thursday raided the house of senior separatist leader and Shia cleric Syed Agha Hassan in Badgam as well as the houses of other separatist leaders and their aides in the valley as part of its probe into the terror funding case.

The agency had in July arrested seven pro-freedom leaders and a prominent local businessman in connection with the probe into the funding case. Shakeel is patron of Islamic Student's League (ISL). Both area close confidants of Shabir Shah, who is now in Tihar Jail following arrest by Enforcement Directorate on July 25.

He said during searches, FDs worth over Rs 1 crore, lots of incriminating material, suspect financial records, property-related documents, and electronic devices have been seized.

He added that searches are "still continuing" and "the suspects are being questioned about the incriminating recoveries made from them".

However NIA did not arrest any of the suspects on Thursday.

The arrest comes a day after the Joint Hurriyat leadership of Kashmir announced to hold a day long protest in New Delhi outside the headquarters of National Investigation Agency (NIA) over arrests and warrants against dozens of hurriyat leaders since last few months. Sources said two houses and a shopping complex were raided by the NIA in Srinagar and Kupwara. This arrest came a day after Malik visited the residences of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militants Sabzar Ahmed Bhat and Faizan Muzaffar in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. The house of Salamabad cross-LoC traders Union President, Hilal Ahmad Khan (Turki) was also raided at Natipora, Nowgam.

The case was registered for raising, receiving and collecting funds through various illegal means, including hawala channels, for funding such activities.
