Two women accused of Kim Jong Nam airport assassination plead not guilty

Kim Jong Nam, a half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, was killed when a highly toxic chemical weapon known as VX was splashed on his face, Malaysian police said.

Defence counsel Hisyam Abdullah, who represents Doan, told CNN the lawyer who was appointed by North Korea to watch the brief has been instructed by their embassy to disengage himself from observing proceedings.

North Korea has denied involvement in the killing and argued that Mr. Kim died of a heart attack.

Kim Jong-nam, the eldest son of late dictator Kim Jong-il, had challenged his half brother's succession to the top post.

There was a mixture of saliva, blood and vomit in Kim Jong Nam's mouth, the doctor said, adding that he had to perform suction before carrying out intubation.

He told Japanese officials that he wanted to take his family to Tokyo Disneyland. While Jong Nam had spoken critically of his family's governing style, he was not thought to be a threat to the regime, and had lived overseas for many years.

In December 2013, Jong-un also executed his uncle Jang Song-thaek saying he was a counter-revolutionary who planned a coup.

He was preparing to fly to Macau on Febuary 13 when Ms. Siti and Ms. Huong approached him. He said Kim was dead on arrival at the hospital. But their lawyers said they thought they were participating in a game show broadcast live on TV. They told about their interactions with Kim shortly after he started complaining of health problems at the airport. It shows her posing for selfies in January in Cambodia and in Kuala Lumpur a few days before the attack.

"There were two policemen taking a man to the clinic who claimed that someone sprayed liquid on his face".

They say they were hoodwinked by men suspected of being North Korean agents.

Personalities north Korean with a party related to the case have fled to Malaysia immediately after the murder.

The case had caused a diplomatic crisis major between North Korea and Malaysia, one of the few allies of Pyongyang while the country's reclusive is in the crosshairs of the worldwide community for its missile tests and nuclear weapons in violation of United Nations resolutions.

This came when the High Court resumed the trial after lunch break, where Dr Norashikin, having earlier testified that tests on the deceased revealed his cholinesterase enzyme was very low level at 344 unit per litre, while Siti Aisyah's and Doan's were 6,781 and 7,163 unit per litre respectively.
