Burbank Center survives, but fire destroys historic Fountaingrove barn

Fire officials said more than 1,500 structures have burned so far, including homes.

She caravanned with neighbors through flames before dawn as one of the wildfires reached the vineyards and ridges near her home.

"Chateau Diana Winery will not be opening today due to the fire warnings and evacuations in the area", the winery said on its Facebook page Monday. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jonathan Cox reported several injuries.

The city evacuated about 100 homes from Montecito Boulevard and Monte Vista Avenue areas of Alta Heights.

Cal Fire is keeping track of three other fires in Napa, Sonoma and Lake Counties. One fire-related death has been reported in Mendocino County, but the speed of these blazes suggests there are more to come.

"The Fountaingrove Inn across the street from the mobile home park burned, as did the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country, a Kmart store, a McDonald's, an Arby's, an Applebee's and a Mountain Mike's Pizza".

As you can see from the above map, the Atlas fire is particularly intense.

"A warning was issued today because risky fire conditions will exist until Tuesday in several areas of the San Francisco Bay Area, National Weather Service officials said".

AccuWeather Meteorologist Jordan Root said dry and warm winds will continue to fan wildfires across the region before diminishing Monday evening.

Shelters were opened at the Calistoga Fairgrounds and a Napa church, and firefighters said their primary focus is on saving lives before fighting the flames.

The fire boss said various individuals have been harmed and various inhabitants were accounted for missing.

As firefighters battle the blazes, videos and photos uploaded to Twitter show high-speed winds spreading red embers and thick black smoke billowing into the night sky.

The rapidly moving Atlas Peak fire was visible throughout Napa Valley and heavy smoke was draping over the region.

Emergency lines were inundated with callers reporting smoke in the area, prompting officials to ask that the public "only use 911 if they see actual unattended flames, or are having another emergency".

Highway 37 has reopened in both directions between Novato and Vallejo after being closed early Monday morning because of a vegetation fire, California Highway Patrol officials said. Gusts ranging from 35 miles per hour to more than 60 miles per hour were recorded.

After evacuating the house, which sits at the dead end of a one-lane road in rural Napa County, she and her family watched from a distance as a propane tank exploded and their home's roof caught fire.
