Rahul Gandhi shakes leg on traditional folk dance 'Timli' in Gujarat

Posted October 11, 2017

While Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has been camping in Gujarat ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, BJP heavyweights - party President Amit Shah, Union Minister Smriti Irani and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath - have upped the ante against the Gandhi scion in his home turf Amethi.

The Zee news reporter asked Rahul Gandhi's opinion about the corruption of Jai Shah while he was on a tour at Aklav in Anand district.

For a change, Rahul Gandhi, who never loses an opportunity to target the BJP, thanked the saffron party for launching regular attacks on him and acknowledged that he had benefitted from the Congress' stunning defeat in the 2014 national polls. "You put your trust for once in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, you will not regret", he told the people of Amethi, where the BJP won four of the five assembly constituencies in the last Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Only one non-Nehru dynasty Congress leader was elected by Amethi, Vidyadhar Bajpai in 1966, and only once has a non-Congress MP been elected, namely Ravindra Pratap Singh of the Janata Party in 1977. Though he chose the United States to announce that he was ready to be a challenger to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, the young Gandhi has his task cut out to build the organisation in the next 18 months and keep it poll-ready. It is clear that there are no challengers to the Gandhi family and his elevation would be smooth.
