NFL Week 9: Keys for Giants vs. Rams

Posted November 06, 2017

Goff was pulled midway through the fourth quarter as the Rams beat the Giants 51-17. Eli Manning needs to throw for 186 yards to become the seventh quarterback in National Football League history with 50,000 career passing yards.

Manning's future in NY could be in peril as the Giants are heading towards a top 5 draft pick this offseason, and a massive rebuild that could took place without head coach Ben McAdoo who's job is in jeopardy despite leading the team to the playoffs last season. Higbee also became the ninth opposing tight end to catch a touchdown pass against the Giants this season. It started with a sack by All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who forced Eli Manning to fumble in the process.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, it's the first time a team has scored a touchdown with a down-and-distance of at least 33 yards since 2001.

On their next possession, Gurley made it 41-10 when he caught a 44-yard pass from Goff to set up first-and-goal from the Giants' 1-yard line. The Giants were driving again, and were particularly effective on the ground, and reached midfield when Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree burst into the NY backfield and stripped the ball from running back Wayne Gallman Jr.

The scoring continued about two minutes of game time later, when Goff connected with wide receiver Sammy Watkins on a 67-yard bomb for a touchdown. They are 1-7 for the first time since 1980.

The Rams, after a series of very bad penalties, faced a 3rd-and-33 play from their own 48. The 23-year-old enters the contest third in the NFL with 920 yards from scrimmage and shares the league lead with eight overall touchdowns, including three as a receiver.

The Rams scored their third touchdown of the third quarter with 3:28 remaining, when Gurley scored on a four-yard run to put the Rams up 48-10.
