Apple to launch three iPhone X-inspired models in 2018, report claims

Posted November 14, 2017

Apple has yet to reveal their plans after unveiling the iPhone X in September, but the rumors are rife that the next mobile device coming from the Cupertino-based tech giant is the current flagship's larger variant.

iPhone 8 production to decline 50-60% QoQ in 1Q18F on lower-than-expected demand: With fewer major selling points and given a consumer preference for iPhone 8 Plus on a limited price gap, we expect iPhone 8 production orders to see 50-60% QoQ decline in 1Q18F, potentially shrinking Pegatron's utilization rate. The iPhone 8 handsets look remarkably similar to the two-year-old iPhone 6 models, with little distinction aside from some incremental upgrades to the camera and storage size. Leaving the 6.1 TFT-LCD as the "budget" version for the low/mid-range markets.

So there. Has this info made your smartphone buying decisions for this year easier, or are you going to hold out and see if these predictions come true? Last week, it transpired that the device also hates cold weather and is suffering from FaceID and faulty 'green line of death' screen problems in some cases. And that drop sets new records for fix costs as well.

"Kuo didn't provide an estimate for the cost of the next iPhone X (which now starts at $999), or the iPhone X Plus, but he did state that the new 6.1" TFT-LCD model will likely be aimed at the low/mid-range markets and estimates the pricing to be around the $649 - 749 mark. The new TFT-LCD model will differ significantly from the OLED models in hardware and design specs (for instance, the PPI will be lower).

Importantly, though, this won't really be a "backwards-looking" phone like this year's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus; instead, the LCD phone will adopt the iPhone X's basic form factor, sensor "notch" and all. It seems very likely that we'll all be tuned in to the Apple Event next year and seeing these devices being debuted.

All of the aforementioned devices are not going to sport any bezels and will be taking design cues from the iPhone X. While their official model names will only be leaked in the future, this is going to be a terrific development if it turns out to be true. So it's always wise to know what you might be in for before investing Rs 1 lakh on the iPhone X.
