Police investigate stabbing at Mall of America

Police say a man was in the dressing room when the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Mahad Abdirahaman of Minneapolis, tried to steal some of his items. The family members were able to disarm the suspect.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with what police describe as non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say one person is in custody after a stabbing at the Macy's store at the Mall of America Sunday night, CBS Minnesota reports.

Bloomington police say a suspect is in custody in connection with the incident. The second victim was stabbed after trying to intervene.

"My daughter could see people lying on the ground who had been stabbed". She said she hid underneath clothing and called police.

Abdirahaman reportedly began stabbing the person when he or she noticed the theft and confronted the suspect.

"He saw the man walking through before, talking to himself, really really loudly talking to himself", Schwieters said.
