Texas Tech is expected to give McLane Carter his first career start at quarterback Friday at Texas, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The Red Raiders are coming of a 27-23 victory on the road against the Texas Longhorns on Friday night to cap off a tumultous regular season that included three blown to Kansas State, West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Kingsbury is 30-32 with three losing seasons in five years at the program where he once was a record-setting quarterback.

Understandably, there was some debate over his future with the program.

"Kliff has led this program the right way", Hocutt said, per the Dallas Morning News. "We're not where we want to be, but we're not far off", Hocutt said. Ehlinger followed with a 5-yard completion to sophomore wide receiver Collin Johnson, then found graduate transfer tight end Kendall Moore for a 16 yards to the Red Raider 27.

Following the tough loss, a Texas Tech Red Raiders fan took out his phone and panned around his area to get reactions from Longhorns fans. Tech most recently defeated Wofford College 79-56, their fifth win of the season by a margin of at least 15 points.

Michael is originally from Miami, FL and is of Cuban descent. "We just have to get over the hump".

The winning touchdown came with 1:47 to play.

Texas: The loss will make for a bitter off period before the bowl game.

Carter has nine passing attempts for Texas Tech this season, though two of those went for touchdowns. Later in the quarter, TTU's Justus Parker intercepted Texas QB Sam Ehlinger on an ill-advised pass and returned it to the Texas 14. Shimonek led the Red Raiders down the field and tossed a 13 yard touchdown pass to TJ Vasher.

Junior cornerback Davante Davis closed out the next Red Raider possession with 48 seconds remaining in the half, stepping in front of a pass at the Texas Tech 34 for his first interception of the season and taking it to the 20-yard line.

Texas made one final push to score, driving to the Texas Tech 42, but a Texas Tech interception at their own 18 with 55 seconds remaining to play ended the threat.
