Google Home Max now available from Best Buy and Verizon for $399

It features dual 0.7-inch tweeters in addition to two 4.5-inch woofers, all housed within a rigid chassis to "keep the audio composed". The $400 Home Max is created to compete against high-end speakers like Sonos and Apple's HomePod, whenever that gets released.

Google is now offering a range of smart speakers.

You can now purchase Google Home Max in both Chalk or Charcoal colorways, each of which will run you $399.00. Google claims that it offers 20 times more powerful sound than the original Google Home. The Echo Dot competitor hit the market immediately, and the Home Max was given the decidedly more nebulous date of December.

The new speaker is now available in the US-only for $399 at Verizon, Walmart, Best Buy and the Google Store.

The Google Home Max is the largest smart speaker by Google - sitting above the Home Mini and the Home.

The far field microphone on the device allows Google Home Max to pick up voice commands from distant corners of the room.

You'll need to do some work in your smart home's apps before you attempt to sync. The Google Home Max automatically tunes itself in real-time to provide a balanced sound no matter where it is located. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Apple HomePod was likely to hit this year, but it has been delayed until early next year.

That's similar to what Apple is doing with its HomePod speaker, which the company first introduced in June.
