Wrong woman killed in murder-for-hire plot

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson tells news outlets that Ishnar Marie Lopez was upset that a man she loved was in a relationship with another woman.

Reports state that the killer duo forced Zengotita-Torres into the trunk of her auto, tortured her for her ATM card, and then suffocated and killed her with garbage bags. "I don't say that lightly, that this woman lost her life for no reason".

Authorities identified the body at Ormond Beach as Zengotita-Torres on Wednesday.

A utility worker discovered the body of Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres Monday morning, a day after she was first reported missing by her family, My News 13 reported.

Zengotita-Torres had moved to Osceola County just a year ago from Puerto Rico with her husband, 14-year-old son and her mother, he said.

Three people were taken into custody Friday in connection with the abduction and murder of a 42-year-old Florida woman, officials said.

Lopez-Ramos, 35, is accused of hiring Alexis Ramos-Rivera, 23, and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes, 22, to murder the woman.

The suspects followed the wrong woman out of the dark store and to her apartment where they "forcibly put the victim into the back of her own vehicle, and then drove away", Gibson said.

After following Zengotita-Torres back to her apartment, they forced her into the trunk of her own auto and drove to an apartment near The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. She led investigators to the other two suspects in the case.

During a press conference Friday, Gibson said: "I get emotional because it touches me so deeply that one of our citizens was killed in such a manner over a mistaken identification and in the end, it appears to be a lover's triangle".

"The suspects continued with their plan of murder and tied the victim with zip ties, and then her head in duct tape and garbage bags", he said, according to the station.

Rivera allegedly beat Torres while her head was covered.

The suspects then continued to use her ATM card.

The three suspects, all of whom moved to Florida from Puerto Rico on December 26, told authorities it was a botched murder-for-hire plot in which Zengotita-Torres was mistakenly targeted. Osceola County Jail records obtained by Law&Crime show that they each face a count of premeditated murder.
