Netherlands Confirm Former Everton Boss As New Manager

After signing a contract until the 2022 World Cup the 54-year-old Koeman was presented at the headquarters of the Dutch national football association KNVB, together with new top soccer director Nico-Jan Hoogma, who steps down as general director of Heracles Almelo.

Ronald Koeman has been appointed Holland coach on a four-and-a-half year contract.

During his playing career, Koeman made 78 appearances for the Dutch national side.

Koeman will become the Netherlands' fourth boss since Louis van Gaal stepped down after leading the country to a third-place finish at the 2014 World Cup. We did not qualify for this World Cup or the last European Championships but we still have a lot of good players.

On Twitter, he wrote: "I am proud to finally announce that I am the new manager of the Dutch national team". Two years later Koeman even was favorite to take the job, but the KNVB eventually ignored Koeman and preferred the return of Hiddink.

Koeman has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in October previous year after a surprisingly poor start to the Premier League season and will take his first role worldwide role since working as an assistant coach with the Dutch team in the late 1990s.
