Michy Batshuayi hits back at racist fans

Borrussia Dortmund striker Michy Batshuayi said he was racially abused by Atalanta fans during the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.

Batshuayi, who has had his opportunities limited due to the stiff competition at Chelsea, has hit the ground running at Dortmund since his loan move in January.

The Belgium global, on loan from Chelsea, played the entire 90 minutes as substitute Marcel Schmelzer's 82nd-minute equaliser salvaged a 1-1 draw on the night which sent Dortmund into the last 16 with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Dortmund's official Twitter account retweeted Batshuayi's original tweet in support of the striker.

Borussia Dortmund coach Peter Stoger has revealed that Michy Batshuayi's hunger to do well was noticeable from his first day in training.

"I'll be honest, I didn't hear them". You can count on one hand the countries where instances of racism in European football are still prevelant and Italy is one of them.

It's not the first time this year that Atalanta fans write the headlines due to their racists fans, after they were fined in January for racists chants against Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly. Have your say in the comments section below.
