A militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces Sunday night in south Kashmir's Shopian district, the army said.
"Three Over Ground Workers (OGWs)/ accomplices in the vehicle who were accompanying the militant were found to be dead".

Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that a joint mobile vehicle checkpost near Pohnoo was sacked upon by militants travelling in a vehicle at 8 pm.
The Army said local police have started legal formalities.
In retaliatory firing, a terrorist identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Jamnagri of Shopian, was killed and a weapon was found with him.More news: NFL Scouting Combine Review: Running Backs
The Army men were fired upon and they retaliated, in which a terrorist was killed, the official said.
The three slain were identified as Suhail Khalil Wagay, Mohd Shahid Khan and Shahnawaz Ahmad Wagay.
After the killing of four persons including a militant, clashes erupted in the area with youth taking to roads and pelting stones on the security personnel. But local residents alleged that this was the second time this year that civilians have been killed in army firing and the incident could spark unrest.
