HBO's spooky 'Sharp Objects' miniseries gets its first trailer

Posted April 23, 2018

The first trailer for Sharp Objects debuted Sunday night, ahead of the anticipated season two premiere of Westworld, and though it's just an early glimpse of what awaits, one thing's for certain: It's going to be dark, terrifying and thrilling. The story follows Adams' Camille Parker, a reporter who returns to the home she left behind to cover a series of violent murders. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a attractive thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. She's one of the best actresses working today, and a limited series with her in the lead role is a must-see show based on her alone.

The moody teaser doesn't give away too much, but it does bear all the trademarks of Vallée's dreamlike, brooding aesthetic.

'Momma said she saw a ghost once, ' a little girl could be heard saying. At one point, Clarkson's spooky matriarch gets told, "We need to talk about your daughters, how one of them is risky, and the other one is in danger", which poses the obvious question of which one is which.

Also appearing in the series are Patricia Clarkson (Adora Crellin), Chris Messina (Detective Richard Willis), Elizabeth Perkins (Jackie), Matt Craven (Vickery), and Eliza Scanlen (Ama Crellin).
