BioWare Explains Why Anthem Won’t Have NPC Squadmates

Posted June 11, 2018

It's time to get excited Star Wars fans, as EA just announced a new single player Star Wars game. We learned last week that Crackdown 3 for the Xbox had been delayed and is expected to launch in February as well.

The fact that Battlefield has essentially committed to free post-release content for the life of the game shows that EA has reordered its priorities. Executive producer Mark Darrah and lead writer Cathleen Rootsaert say that they are focusing on the story and will be adding things to the game for "years to come". Players will be able to customize and personalize their suits with unique paint jobs and gear so they'll have the right tools to confront nearly any situation, and look good doing it.

Whether this new reluctance towards random loot boxes and microtransactions remains long-term is unknown, but EA has recognised that it has a lot of goodwill to build after the Star Wars Battlefront II debacle.

When it comes to the Anthem release date, we already know that it's billed for early 2019.

Fallen Order is set to take place between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, and centers on a "surviving Padawan".

Since other players will only ever see you decked out in your mecha armor, you'll obviously want to make it as rad as possible.

Bioware has been known to set its games in worlds that are living in the shadow of historical events. Our first look at the game's story mode will debut at Xbox's conference on Sunday. The Clone Wars will be coming to the game too, with iconic prequel-era characters like General Grievous, Count Dooku, and Anakin Skywalker finally making their way to Battlefront 2.

Fans of the original EA game Unravel will be glad to hear of a sequel called Unravel Two.

Anthem is a game that has intrigued shooter fans since it's announcement past year.

The Javelins can be customized to suit the player as well. In Anthem, you can develop friendships, but there will be no options to take the digital relationships any further.

After the severe criticism EA received for Battlefront 2 previous year, this time around the company has vowed to change the game.
