Man City vs Chelsea: Why DSTV will not show Community Shield game

Posted August 04, 2018

Guardiola has previously spoken of his excitement to lock horns with Sarri in the top-flight throughout the course of the upcoming season and ahead of the sides' Community Shield outing this weekend, the Spaniard was full of praise again for his counterpart.

Chelsea fans can breath a sigh of relief after Maurizio Sarri on Friday confirmed that Brazilian winger Willian will be staying at the club.

However, a new challenge faces Sarri in the 2018/19 campaign as he looks to enjoy a successful first season in English football with the Blues.

"In terms of results, in the Premier League I can not overcome the results, the numbers of last season, but in the way we play, yes", he said. "I think we have played against a good team in Arsenal and we could see the way we want to play", the defender said.

In addition, both sides have shown weakness at the back in their pre-season games so far, with Chelsea keeping just one clean sheet (against Perth Glory) and City without a shutout.

The FA will permit one break in each half, the first around the 25-minute mark and another around 70 minutes, but the teams will be told the breaks will last only a minute and that coaching staff are not permitted onto the field of play during that time.

"I think the strategy from the club is flawless".

"Yes, we were close, but in the end Jorginho chose to stay with Sarri", Guardiola said.

"Always Chelsea is a big rival". He is perfectly suited to the style of football that Guardiola has instilled at City, so it should come as no surprise that City have secured his long term future at the Etihad. Cesc Fabregas has a knee injury and is a doubt for the Shield.

"The Premier League is the most competitive of Europe's top leagues".

Reportedly due to a passport issue, the 29-year-old couldn't enter the country and earlier in the week, Sarri had stated that he wasn't impressed with his player's tardiness. "If, at the end, we decide to bring in another one it will be because they can be a special player for the future, not to have one more player for the numbers. Or so the theory went before City won it by 19 points last season", Richard Jolly scribes.

"The match is very hard for one reason: they have worked together for two years and we started two-and-a-half weeks ago, so for us it will be a very hard match".

Guardiola did not entirely rule out adding another player before the transfer window closes next week but maintains any new recruit must be of exceptional quality.

"If I want to stay here for 10 years, then I have to win".
