Liverpool boss has selection headache ahead of Blues Cup clash

Posted September 26, 2018

The cup game is followed by a Premier League match against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Sarri's side look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

"If you speak about Manchester City... they had a phenomenal season last season and only lost two games and had four draws in the Premier League".

"Divock is not far away but it's an ankle thing and a very unfortunate situation", Klopp told Liverpool's official website.

It might be early doors but as the only team in the league to still have a flawless record, Liverpool have placed themselves in a strong position to challenge and although Chelsea and City both play the Anfield outfit in the next two weeks, the Reds will be confident.

Cahill is also in jeopardy of losing the Chelsea captaincy after Sarri said earlier this month that he has decided who should wear the armband, but wants to talk to his players and the club before announcing his choice publicly.

Chelsea have progressed from each of their last seven League Cup third round ties since losing 4-3 to Newcastle United in 2010-11. With James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum both playing a lot this season, it would make sense if they get replaced in the midfield. This team is really experienced.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise upon Chelsea's Italian Coach Maurizio Sarri. It won the title before, 80 per cent [of the players] won it twice, and they know how it works.

Klopp said: "It was as you can imagine - transfer window time is one of two moments in the year when you can make decisions about going somewhere and, yes, Simon would have been ready to go to another club, to be the number one, wherever in the world".

"But he is still a threat, has fantastic situations in both games and he is in a good shape", said Klopp.

"I think he was just showing him, this is what we do and if you step out of line, you'll be off. We have to work, we need to improve and then maybe, in one year, we will be at the same level of Liverpool".

Dejan Lovren, having recovered from injury, could join Mignolet in getting a first run out of 2018-19, but it looks unlikely Adam Lallana (groin) will be involved.

"It's impressive, I can not say differently". There was never a team that won all four, right? "That's how we will take it, with all concentration, with all focus, with all intensity [for a] normal game".
