Miami Heat are aggressively pursuing a trade for Jimmy Butler

Over the course of the session, Thibodeau noted that the team will not "make a bad deal" to send Butler elsewhere in the near future.

While Thibodeau said the team is working quickly and diligently to fulfill Butler's trade request, "our job is to seek out the best opportunity for us".

The Heat has been very reluctant this offseason to part with Josh Richardson and Bam Adebayo, and it's unclear if Miami would be willing to include Richardson in a deal for Butler.

Minnesota has granted Butler permission to skip the team's media day on Monday as well the start of training camp, with the hope that he'll be offloaded by the end of the week.

But it's another if Thibodeau really is trying to hold onto Butler and ignoring what his boss has told him to do.

The Jimmy Butler sweepstakes are heating up, with or without Tom Thibodeau on board. Butler's interest the Knicks may be overstated, according to Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today, as he wants to win now as opposed to later. Glen, Scott, myself, I think we've made that clear to everyone. Woj threw one more club into the mix: the Sacramento Kings, who have ample salary cap space and could play a facilitator role in a three-team trade involving Butler by taking on another team's hefty contract.

That could potentially work as the Timberwolves are keen to add Gorgui Dieng to any trade that takes place.

The Timberwolves acquired Jimmy Butler last summer from the Chicago Bulls on draft night.

Sunday was full of Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler news that could be summed up as mass hysteria, we were involved in that craziness as well.

The deal Wojnarowski referenced in his team was a three-team trade between the Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers in August of 2014, where for a pair of No. 1 overall picks in the NBA Draft, Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, Cleveland got back multi-time All-Star power forward Kevin Love.
