Kohli’s ton in vain as West Indies beat India in 3rd ODI

For three-match T20I series against Australia: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed.

Dhoni isn't part of both the T20I squads, with rookie keeper-bat Rishabh Pant set to don the big gloves, announced BCCI's chairman of selectors MSK Prasad after its meeting here.

Earlier, a disciplined Indian bowling attack restricted the West Indies to a challenging 283/9 with Shai Hope once again top-scoring for his side. The sense of deja vu was prevalent all over the place as soon as the Indian captain walked out to bat in the third ODI of the ongoing five-match series in Pune on Saturday. In the second match, West Indies came very to close to beat India but ended the match with a tie. After the partnerships, India kept on losing at regular intervals.

"The T20Is here and in Australia, he [Dhoni] is not going to play, because we are also looking at a second wicketkeeper", Prasad said at a press conference on Friday.

Although the 37-year-old Dhoni enjoys massive support, there has been some murmur in the past about his form and ability to finish matches.

Pune: Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on Friday dropped from India's 16-member teams for both the T20 worldwide series against the West Indies and Australia later this year. To that end, both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been picked for these six matches.

The only T20 internationals left in the next six months is a three-game series against New Zealand, which is scheduled in February.

After the scare in the second ODI, India brought back their main bowlers - Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah into their side.

Kohli was the top-scorer for India as he smashed his 38th ODI hundred and third successive in the series to become the first Indian to achieve the feat.
