Fandango Offering 50% Off Golden Globes-Nominated Movies and TV Shows

Curiously, the Hollywood Foreign Press doesn't consider foreign-language films eligible for best film, so Alfonso Cuaron's Netflix drama "Roma" will be left out of the Globes' top category. Category-based drama is nearly always an issue with this awards show, since studios are notorious for jockeying between competitions that sort-of fit (even sometimes making major stretches) while campaigning for projects that can arguably slide into different boxes.

The as-yet-unnamed award will function as the equivalent to its film-centric HFPA counterpart, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which has gone to icons like Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, and George Clooney in recent years. The show wasn't exactly a critical darling, but the HFPA nominated Cohen for best actor in a comedy.

Samberg and Oh had a memorable back-and-forth during the Primetime Emmys back in September, recreating the infamous 2017 Oscars flub in which Warren Beatty incorrectly announced that "La La Land" won for Best Picture, when the victor was, in fact, "Moonlight".

The Golden Globes and other awards - including those from critics groups and industry guilds - are closely watched as possible bellwethers for the Oscars, still considered the grand prize, even in this age of awards saturation and declining ratings.

It's official: Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh have been tapped to host the 2019 Golden Globes! Last year, freshmen series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies took home the honors of Best Comedy Series, Best Drama Series and Best Miniseries, respectively. Last year's host was comedian and late-night star Seth Meyers. And Samberg is no stranger to hosting award ceremonies: He also emceed the Emmys back in 2015.

Lucas Hedges, who said earlier this year that he was "not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual", was also nominated for best actor in a drama film for his portrayal of main character Jared Eamons.

The three-hour 76th Golden Gloves ceremony will air live coast to coast on NBC from the Beverly Hills Hotel at 8 PM. The Golden Globes led NBC to the nightlong win in total viewers despite National Football League playoff competition.
