Terry McAuliffe (D.) has called on Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D.) to resign after a second woman accused Fairfax of sexual misconduct, releasing a statement through attorneys on Friday. She said Fairfax would have further response later.

His call to resign was joined by Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, a Democrat representing suburbs in northern Virginiaas well as by Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, a 2020 presidential candidate. A two-thirds majority in the Senate is needed to remove Fairfax from office. One, a mutual friend of Dr. Tyson and Mr. Fairfax, who asked not to be named to protect his own privacy, said he dated Dr. Tyson in the late 1990s and believed her account.

"Fifteen years ago, when I was an unmarried law student, I had a consensual encounter with the woman who made the allegation", he said in a lengthy statement referring to his accuser, Meredith Watson.

"I felt a responsibility to myself, the beloved students I teach, and the fearless women I've tried to help overcome their own trauma", she wrote.

He demanded a full investigation to "clear my good name".

It is obvious that a vicious smear and coordinated smear campaign is being orchestrated against me.

Norment went on to say he was not in any of the photos "referenced on pages 82 or 122, nor did I take any of the photos in question". This follows an accusation by Vanessa Tyson. "I believe Meredith Watson and Dr. Tyson, and it was extremely fearless for them to come forward".

"At this time, Ms. Watson is reluctantly coming forward out of a strong sense of civic duty and her belief that those seeking or serving in public office should be office the highest character", the statement said. "I also shared the allegation and my account of the events with a number of leaders in Richmond because then, as now, I have nothing to hide".

State Attorney General Mark Herring has also admitted a blackface episode in 1980 while he was aged 19 in college. Additionally, we have statements from former classmates corroborating that Ms. Watson immediately told friends that Mr. Fairfax had raped her.

"The allegations against Justin Fairfax are serious and credible".

Northam has come under fire since Big League Politics last week surfaced the governor's page from the 1984 Eastern Virginia Medical School yearbook, which features a photo of a person wearing blackface and a person wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit standing side by side. And he was preparing to do just that, after scandal enveloped Northam and before Tyson accused Fairfax of sexual assault.

The delegation - consisting of the state's two U.S. senators, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and seven USA representatives - repeated its call for Northam to resign, and said the allegations against Fairfax "need to be taken very seriously", though it stopped short of demanding a formal investigation. Now Herring is struggling to shore up his political support amid calls for his resignation.
