Avenatti to Turn Over Second Tape of R

Posted February 28, 2019

A few weeks ago, it was reported that attorney Michael Avenatti was in possession of a new 42-minute R. Kelly sex tape, of which was allegedly made with an underage girl in a similar fashion as the original sex tape that was uncovered over 15 years ago.

His lawyer entered the plea for the R&B star, who appeared in the Chicago court dressed in an orange jumpsuit.

Kelly, who was acquitted of child pornography charges back in 2008, is due back in court this afternoon to face 10 felony charges for sexually assaulting three teens from 1998-2010.

According to Reuters, Cook County Judge John Lyke called the allegations against Kelly "disturbing", and also ordered him to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

One of them, Lizette Martinez, said at the news conference that she met Kelly at a shopping mall when she was 17 years old and that he abused her from 1995 until 1999. "Hearing that a daycare owner helped bail out R Kelly really makes me sick to my stomach", another said.

Sexual abuse allegations against Kelly have been revived with the 2017 publication of an explosive BuzzFeed report that alleged Kelly operated an abusive sex cult.

Days after Lifetime's three-night documentary series, "Surviving R. Kelly", was aired in January detailing accusations of sexual abuse and pedophilia by the singer, R Kelly was facing eviction at his Chicago studio for owing more than $166,000 in unpaid rent.

Avenatti said the second video involves a 14-year-old girl. She said the only person lying is Kelly and that he has done so "for more than 20 years". "No one has shown us any evidence that he's done anything wrong".

On Saturday, the court has set R. Kelly's bond at 1 million dollars, with which he has to pay 10% to be out of prison during the trial.

R. Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg has expressed to reporters he's actually "very happy" with the bond situation.

"I felt like I had to be transparent and vocal about what happened to me, to save others", Martinez said when asked by journalists in Los Angeles why she came forward. The 52-year-old R&B artist left jail at 5:30 p.m. local time, where he silently walked to a waiting vehicle and did not address reporters outside the detention facility, CBS News reports. Kelly is being charged with 10 accounts of sexual abuse against four different women.

Kelly's DNA was found in semen on one of the accuser's shirts, and semen found on a shirt worn by another was submitted for DNA testing, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx said.
