Indiana Basketball keeps hopes of making NCAA Tournament alive

With impressive play recently under Tom Izzo, Michigan State (23-5) has survived and played extremely well while dealing with injuries.

No. 6 Michigan State (23-5, 14-3 Big Ten) at IN (14-14, 5-12). Juwan Morgan averages 8.3 rebounds, while MSU guard Cassius Winston leads the team in scoring (19.2) and assists (7.4) and Goins averages 9.1 boards. IN did not stop there as they were also able to force 10 steals and hold the Spartans scoreless in the last four minutes and 15 seconds of the game. Now, with consecutive wins against top 25 opponents in Wisconsin and Michigan State, Indiana looked to be a team that may have found an identity, relying on strong defensive efforts to win games.

Michigan State is tied with Purdue atop the Big Ten Conference standings with 14-3 records.

There are some significant questions to ask about the trajectory of the IN program, but for now the only relevant concern is what kind of effort will they bring Thursday night IN Champaign against the Fighting Illini. Michigan State hasn't scored in the last 2:13 of game time.

After leading for almost the entire game, Michigan State stumbled down the stretch and fell to the Hoosiers, 63-62, on Saturday afternoon at Assembly Hall.

BLOOMINGTON, IN - MARCH 02: Matt McQuaid #20 of the Michigan State Spartans dribbles the ball around Devonte Green #11 of the Indiana Hoosiers at Assembly Hall on March 2, 2019 in Bloomington, Indiana.

This model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, has raked in the winnings for those following its picks. After Michigan State on Saturday, Indiana has just two games left, one at IL and one against Rutgers at home.

The Purdue women's basketball team finished up the regular season Sunday, suffering a 73-51 loss at IN to finish the schedule 17-14 overall and 8-10 IN conference play.

A championship response from the Spartans, going on a quick 6-0 run out of the under-12 timeout. Very active in his 13 minutes, Morgan finished with five points and six rebounds.

On the flip side, the Hoosiers had five players in double-figures including 28 points from their bench, something that has been a question mark all season long. Even at 14-14, they still have an outside shot of making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, especially if they can find a way to win this game.

Remarkably, we are more than a quarter of the way into the game and Justin Smith is the only IU player who has made a field goal.
